Otoscopy & Tympanometry
Otoscopy is a clinical procedure used to examine structures of the ear, particularly the external auditory canal, tympanic membrane, and middle ear. We use the process to assist in the evaluation of specific ear complaints, check for foreign bodies, examine for wax deposits or infections.

Tympanometry is a valuable diagnostic tool employed to evaluate the health and function of the middle ear. The middle ear, comprising the eardrum and the three tiny bones (ossicles), plays a crucial role in transmitting sound from the outer ear to the inner ear. Tympanometry helps healthcare professionals assess the efficiency of this process and identify potential issues affecting hearing.

Hearing Assessments
One of the most common questions raised is how are we able to test hearing without a sound proof room?
The simple answer is that we are using foam inserts that are designed to create a snug seal within the ear canal, effectively isolating external sounds and allowing for precise measurement of auditory responses. The accuracy of hearing tests is paramount in diagnosing hearing impairments, determining appropriate interventions, and prescribing suitable hearing aids. The use of foam inserts ensures a standardized testing environment by minimizing ambient noise interference, contributing to the reliability of audiometric measurements.
We are able to assess pediatric cases through to adults. Our assessments include otoscopic examination, tympanometry to asses the middle ear function, air conduction and bone conduction.
Hearing Rehabilitation
Helping Ears is a non-profit organisation focused on delivering Hearing Rehabilitation services to remote communities. Our team specialises in fitting donated hearing aids and providing remote audiology services to ensure that every device we fit works perfectly. We believe that everyone deserves to hear the world around them, and we're dedicated to making that a reality.
